Web Design & Development in Oxford

Websites built on whichever platform suits your business, not whichever one we default to.

Squarespace, Shopify, WordPress or a fully bespoke build, all designed to convert. We're web designers and developers based in Oxford, working with founder-led businesses and larger organisations across Oxfordshire and the UK.

Sound familiar?

  • Your website was built years ago and hasn't kept up with the business.

  • You've been told you need e-commerce, but you're not sure which platform is right for what you sell.

  • A previous agency built you something on a platform that turned out to be the wrong fit: too rigid, too expensive to maintain, or not built to grow with you.

  • You just want someone to tell you honestly what you need, not upsell you onto whatever they happen to build.

None of that means your business needs a complicated rebuild. It means nobody's matched the platform to what you're actually trying to do.

Websites matched to your goals, budget and growth plans

We design, build and deploy websites on whichever platform fits your goals, budget and growth plans, not a single default we push every client toward.

  • The right platform for the job. Squarespace, Shopify, WordPress or a fully bespoke build, chosen based on what you need.

  • Built around your goals, not a template. Structure and messaging planned before a single page gets built.

  • E-commerce done properly. Shopify stores and custom e-commerce solutions built to sell, not just display products.

  • SEO foundations from day one. Page structure, metadata and search visibility built in, not bolted on afterwards.

  • Hosting and deployment handled. Your site launched and running properly, without you having to work out the technical side.

  • Built to grow with you. A platform choice that still makes sense at double the size, not one you'll outgrow in a year.

Squarespace

For service businesses, hospitality and creative brands that want a polished website they can update themselves, with hosting and security included.

Wordpress

For businesses that need more control: custom functionality, a large content library, or a website that connects to your CRM, booking system or other tools.

Shopify

For businesses where selling online is the point. Product catalogues, payments, stock and checkout, built to turn browsers into buyers.

Bespoke websites

For businesses whose website needs to do something no platform does out of the box, from custom booking flows to tools built around how your team works.

How much does a website cost in Oxford?

The cost of a website comes down to four things: how many pages it needs, whether we're writing the copy, how much custom functionality it needs (bookings, integrations, online payments) and the platform it's built on. A five-page Squarespace site for a service business sits at a very different price to a Shopify store with 300 products.

After your free consultation, we send a fixed quote with everything included set out in writing, so there are no surprise invoices halfway through the build.

How do you choose the right web designer in Oxford?

A portfolio shows you what a website looks like, not how it performs once it's live. These are the questions we'd ask any web designer, including us:

  • Who will I be working with? You should know whether the person you meet is the person doing the work.

  • Is SEO part of the build, or an extra? Page structure, metadata and redirects are much cheaper to get right at the start than to fix later.

  • Who writes the copy? Plenty of websites stall for weeks waiting for text. Agree who's responsible before you sign.

  • Why this platform? If every site in their portfolio is on the same one, ask how they'd know if it was the wrong fit for you.

  • What happens after launch? Find out what support is included, what it costs afterwards and who owns the website.

  • Can I speak to a past client? Any web designer worth hiring will put you in touch with one.

What's it like working with Ninety8 Media on a website?

You work directly with the people building your website. Phoebe leads the strategy, copy and SEO, drawing on years agency-side across global financial services and technology accounts. Tom, our software engineer, leads the build, with 15 years across marketing, e-commerce and software.

  1. Free consultation. We talk through your business, your customers and what your current website isn't doing. You leave with a platform recommendation.

  2. Scope and quote. A fixed quote with everything included, in writing.

  3. Structure and copy. We map every page and write the copy before design starts, so the design is built around what you need to say.

  4. Design and build. You see the website take shape and give feedback at agreed points, not just at the end.

  5. Launch and handover. We set up redirects, run final SEO and speed checks, deploy the site and show you how to manage it.

Will you lose your Google rankings if you change platform?

Not if the move is planned properly. Rankings usually drop after a rebuild because pages disappear without redirects, or URLs change and nobody tracks where the old ones went.

Before launch, we map every existing URL to its new home, set up 301 redirects, carry over the metadata that's working and resubmit your sitemap to Google Search Console. We followed exactly this process when we moved Aybel Spaces off an outdated WordPress website, and the new site outperformed the old one in its first three months live.

From Our Clients

FAQs

How do you decide which platform is right for us?

It comes down to what you're trying to do: how much you'll sell online, how complex the site needs to be, your budget and how much you want to manage yourself day to day. We'll recommend the platform that fits, not the one we'd rather build.

Do you build e-commerce websites?

Yes. Shopify stores and custom e-commerce solutions, depending on the scale and complexity of what you're selling.

What if I already have a website on a different platform?

We can work with what you've got, or migrate you to a better-suited platform if it's holding you back. We'll tell you honestly which one it is.

Will my website be SEO optimised?

Yes, whichever platform it's on. Every site we build includes SEO foundations: page structure, metadata, keyword guidance and search-friendly content.

Do you handle hosting?

Yes. For WordPress and bespoke builds, we handle hosting and deployment so your site launches properly and keeps running without you managing the technical side. Squarespace and Shopify include hosting in their subscriptions, and we take care of the setup and launch.

Can I update the website myself after launch?

Generally, yes, depending on the platform. Squarespace and Shopify are both built for it. WordPress and bespoke builds vary depending on how they're set up, and we'll make sure you know exactly what you can and can't manage yourself before launch.

Do you only build websites for businesses in Oxford?

No. We're based in Oxford and work with businesses across Oxfordshire, including Witney, Abingdon, Bicester and Banbury, but most of the build happens remotely, so we work with businesses across the UK.

How do I get a quote for a new website?

Book a free website consultation. We'll talk through what you need, then send a fixed quote with the scope set out in writing.
